After a fun Saturday at the event, Under The Windmill, we decided to go Kellie’s Castle the next day. People said, Kellie’s Castle is located at Ipoh, but more accurate is Batu Gajah. An hour drive from KL, you will able to visit this stunning historical castle.
A brief history about Kellie’s Castle for those who don’t know about Kellie’s Castle.

Kellie’s Castle was meant to be a home away from home for Scottish Planter, William Kellie Smith in the 20th century. Being far away from home, Kellie desired his new residence to be reminiscent of his home back in Scotland. The castle is perched on top of a hill in what used to be a rubber estate. Construction of this unique castle began in 1915. However, it came to an abrupt halt with Kellie’s sudden death in 1926.
                                                                                                                                                          — Tourism Malaysia

This is one of the tourist spots in Perak. Thus, you would have to pay for entrance fee. And also, if you drive here, RM2 will be charged for parking per vehicle.
Malaysian –  Adult RM5 | Children RM3 | Senior Citizen (> 60 years old) RM4
Foreigner – Adult RM10 | Children RM8
Pre-Wedding/Graduation Shooting – RM50
Kellie’s Castle is truly beautiful; and hence, a lot of couple or graduates will come here for photoshooting. As stated above, a charge for such shooting is applied. For Malaysian, remember to show your IC when purchasing tickets, or you will be treated as foreigner. The entrance is right beside the ticket counter.
A floor plan is shown, however, some rooms are not allowed to enter.
Basically, this is the only room that was filled with furniture; yet being locked. We only manage to view from the gate or door.
Honestly speaking, unless you look at the signboard, else, every room is the same because it is empty since this castle was never completed.
This yellowish building is right behind the main castle building, however, I have no idea on what it actually called. Same, it is not complete.
Still, it is a very beautiful place. As such, we won’t miss the chance to have some shooting here.
For who has agrophobia, hope the following photographs may not cause any anxiety on you. we went to the highest level. to be honest, I was afraid of looking down. It is really high! FYI, it does not have any fence. So walk at your own risk.
Some scenes taken from the top level. You can clearly see how high is it.
Well, the rain came out of sudden when we planned to leave Kellie’s Castle.  Danny decided to have portrait photoshoot in one of empty rooms. We love this following shoot a lot. Hope you love it too.

  1. Oh wow, this place truly look beautiful not only because of its appearance but also because it has rich history behind it. The walls of the main castle building looked quite ancient but still sturdy. Your shots are wonderful!

  2. I’ve been to Kellie’s Castle Twice! haha, they were both under Malaysia Tourism and Gaya Travel. The place has this peaceful yet mysterious feeling especially when you are underground…

  3. saw that couple shot of yours on your ig and thought the place is really beautiful! but 1 hr drive away from kl is really far huh. is there nothing else there but the castle?

  4. Where is this? The castle looks so romantic and majestic although already in ruins. It takes me back to my history classes back in highschool. The court, the balls, royalty and all that. I wish we had this in Manila too!

  5. This castle looks quite mysterious with some great history attached to it, though i have not heard about it. Your photos at this place are great and surely you had a wonderful time.

  6. I’ve been to Kellie’s Castle once and found it eerie. I mean, the architecture is really gorgeous and full of feeling. But it gives me the creeps. It probably didn’t help that it was empty that day gaha

  7. Wah..Kellies Castle’s tourism already improved so much! Long time, my family and I went to visit a very old kellies castle without the entrance and guard… No one around this castle, so scary but beautiful old castle since I was young teenager!
It got old romantic story about it, include a haunted story too! Haha!

  8. I used to study in UTP, so going to Kellie’s Castle has been quite an annual affair for my coursemates and I. Loved that place, can never grow bored of it. We tried visiting at night as well, but lucky of us, no supernatural sightings haha 😛

  9. Imagine i am a malaysia but I have not been to that place before. I like the gardens around the castle. You have got great photos.
